On September 8, 2026, Meta announced Muse, a personal artificial intelligence agent. According to the company, Muse is designed to do more than answer questions: it can help plan and carry out everyday digital tasks.

The agent can send email, book travel, open a browser, and fill out forms. It can also work on longer-running tasks, while requiring user approval before sensitive actions are completed.

Meta says Muse uses a dedicated Muse Secure VM, the Muse Spark model, and a Sentinel approval system. Keeping credentials hidden from the agent, maintaining an audit trail, and allowing users to opt out are intended to preserve user control. The approach shows why privacy and security are central as AI agents move from conversation into real actions.
