Google introduces WeatherNext 3 for more detailed forecasts

On September 3, 2026, Google DeepMind introduced WeatherNext 3, a weather-forecasting model. The company says it learns from real-time observations, refreshes forecasts more often, and aims to provide more localized results.
The update focuses on higher resolution, more precise precipitation forecasts, and hourly refreshes. Google also says the model incorporates variables related to wind, solar energy, and other clean-energy needs.
WeatherNext 3 results are being integrated into products including Search, Gemini, Google Maps, Google Maps Platform, and Google Cloud. That makes weather data potentially more useful not only for daily planning but also for logistics, emergency response, and energy management.
